Murray, UT – Kleda Quigley peacefully passed away Friday evening, July 12, 2019, after a long struggle with heart and lung challenges. Over the past several years, she also struggled with dementia.
Kleda was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. She and her recently late husband, Bill Quigley, served on 2 LDS missions overseas; one to Leeds, England and one to Bangalore, India. She had many church callings over her lifetime. Kleda was very dedicated to the LDS Church as well as the LDS Deaf community in SLC, UT.
Kleda’s life had many challenges, as she permanently lost 90% of her hearing at the age of 5 years old from Scarlet Fever, and she used a hearing aid for most of her life. During her lifetime, she had fatally lost 3 of her children to Cystic Fibrosis. The first born son, Mial Jay when he was 5 years old, Marlon, the second born son died at the age of 22, and the youngest daughter, Jana died at the age of 18. Through these life trials, she always remained faithful, which gave her the strength to raise the remaining children, and serve the Church and the deaf community, which she loved.
Kleda’s hobbies included bowling, baking, reading, sewing, family history and genealogy research.
Two weeks previous to her passing, Kleda became a widow as she lost her husband and 65-year life partner, Bill Quigley. Their amazing love story included: 6 children, 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a home in Murray, Utah. Surviving Kleda are: Lorina Quigley, Sharlene Quigley, Darla Clayton and Bryan Clayton. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Kleda our friend, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother—you will be deeply missed.
