Kollin Prince

–

West Jordan, Utah

“Yuv you. See you tamallow?”

The best beat maker and DJ the world has ever known gained his sight and strength in heaven on Saturday, September 5th, 2026.

Kollin Kade Prince, more affectionately known as “Kolli” or “Nuck”, passed away at home after battling multiple illnesses and ailments. He was born on April 9th, 2002, in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Kollin’s deep passion for music and “beats” had to have started in the womb. He taught himself how to play the toddler keyboard at just a year and a half old. We quickly realized he had a special gift he’d go on to share with anyone he could. He could play songs on the piano he’d only heard once. But the real beauty was found in the music he’d make up on the fly.

His musical taste was eclectic, to say the least. But his passion was EDM with an emphasis on dubstep. Kollin spent countless hours making “sick beats.” He made one for every occasion, often asking for opinions on what genre he should do next. The creativity and musical genius our kid had was awe-inspiring. He aspired to be a DJ and producer. He even came up with a few producer tags.

Kollin was the happiest, sweetest, purest, most innocent soul: undisputed. He gave everyone around him so much hope and laughter. He was comforting and had the most positive outlook on life despite his multiple disabilities. But his disabilities were a gift. A gift to him, his family, and everyone he met. A gift to shield him from things of the world. A gift that allowed his shining light to spread to others so easily.

Bop Its and gaming were his secondary passions. He had every Bop It you could imagine, even the ones he couldn’t physically play. “Twist it, pull it, smash it” and “Bop it to start” are permanently burned into our minds. He also loved playing adventure-like games for the blind on his computers and phone.

But don’t get it wrong. There were actually things Kollin didn’t care for at all. Crows (“those darn crows”), flies (“those darn flies”), tomatoes, broccoli, Special K cereal with strawberries, when someone would mispronounce words, spelled something incorrectly, or mis-stated a fact. “Mr. Correction” would always keep us in line, especially if we were doing it on purpose to tease him. And him saying a cuss word? No chance.

Kollin spent some of his formative years at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB). His time there taught him independence and responsibility. More importantly, his time there brought him lifelong friends that he cherished so deeply. And for that, we’re eternally grateful.

Kollin is survived by his parents, Danielle (Jeff) Montgomery; Zachary (Jenny) Prince. Also survived by his sister, Lillian Montgomery, and brother, Jackson Prince, and by his multitude of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by his grandpa Thom Prince, great-grandma Karen Christiansen, and second cousin Jordan Mallory.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with a viewing from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the LDS Welby ward building on 8385 South 4800 West, West Jordan, Utah. Interment will be in the Mayfield, Utah cemetery around 3 p.m. that afternoon.

While Kollin would have wanted an LDS service, he also would have wanted to party. So we’re doing both. A separate celebration of life will be held in October. Kollin loved dressing up for Halloween, making music for it, and eating all the candy. His celebration of life is going to be a Halloween party! Location and details to follow.

Come to one or both. We understand everyone grieves differently.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to local or national charities for the blind and visually impaired or to any local music program.
