Kurt Alan DeVries Obituary (1954 - 2009)

Kurt Alan DeVries, born January 2, 1954, to Rudolph and Karma Tobler DeVries, died December 4, 2009 after valiantly fighting Luekemia and then suffering complications from a bone marrow transplant. Kurt graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1972. He served in the Japan West mission from March 1973 to March 1975. He earned a degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University. Kurt married Cindee Hansen on August 6, 1976. They have three children. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served diligently in several callings. He was an example of hard work, devotion to his family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Kurt is survived by his wife Cindee, children, Kelli (Jason) Bland, Ryan (Cherstin) DeVries, Chad (Chelsea) DeVries, and 6 grandchildren, whom he adored. Also survived by his mother, brothers, Kerry DeVries, Jeff (Shanan) DeVries, and his sister Melody (Kurt) Harrison. Preceded in death by his father. A special thanks to the LDS Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Team, and the caring nurses on the East-8th Floor. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 12:00 noon at the Highland Stake Center, 40th W. 10227 So. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. So. Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) and from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment at Murray City Cemetery.
