Kyle John Bird passed away the morning of Thursday July 25th, 2024. He was born on the 18th of April, 1963 to parents John Taylor Bird and Barbara Kae Butler. He was the 3rd of 4 children: Jeff Bird (Tennys), Lori Bushman (Barrett), Todd Bird (Lisa), and 3 additional siblings including Diane Izzo (Sam), Craig Bird, and Doug Bird (Terry).
His first marriage to Kellye Jane Newton of 13 years was blessed with their four children: Chris, Brett (Zach), Mike (Kim), and Justin (Chelsie). This marriage later ended in divorce. On July 18th, 1998, Kyle then married “my pretty lady”, love of his life Nancy Lee Montoya who added her 3 children to the family including Mindi Serrano (Juan), Eric Walker, and Nicole Bohman (Jared). Together they had their baby girl Kylee (Kass). “Yours, mine, and ours” family had been blessed with 19 grandchildren: Kyla, Karli, Aiden, Davynn, Cody, Alex, Avery, Juan, Dean, Ethan, Elaina, Oliver, Tyler, Mateo, Samantha, John, Nora, Max, and Maya.
Kyle succumbed to a massive heart attack while at work. He had been working for the City of West Jordan for over 12 years as a Parks Supervisor where he oversaw “City Beautification” in Weed Abatement. Kyle was an incredibly fun and loving, kind and caring, and a very spiritual man. His work ethic and resiliency was second to none. He was always known as a peacemaker to family, friends, and colleagues. His compassion for others and ability to problem solve often made him the person to go to for advice and council.
Kyle was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 8 years old. As a kid he participated in various youth activities and groups both church and State sponsored. He was ambitious and hardworking regardless of the activity. Kyle was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where he received his Eagle Scout at the age of 13.
Kyle graduated from Murray High School in 1981. He was a well accomplished student-athlete participating in wrestling, golf, Madrigals, and student government. Kyle also excelled on the Varsity Soccer Team, where he was awarded 1st Team All-State. He then went on to serve an Honorable Mission to Brussels, Belgium French speaking from 1982-1984. Upon his return, he attended the University of Utah where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management/human resources with a Minor in Spanish.
Kyle was a man of many hobbies. Whether it was collecting sports memorabilia with his kids or cheering on his children and grandchildren at various sporting events, he was motivated to do anything and everything that brought his family together. As a kid, his father helped him gain a deep appreciation and love for raising pheasants and other birds in their backyard, which continues to this day.
Those who knew Kyle also knew his love and passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, taxidermist, and trapper. He passed on his knowledge and passion for hunting and fishing to all four of his boys. Later in life he followed in his brother’s and father’s footsteps by gaining a deep love and appreciation for Alaska fishing, where he had the chance to make annual trips with his family
Kyle served in many church related callings and capacities throughout his years, and genuinely loved his most recent calling serving on the Stake High Council. His love for the Gospel and knowledge of the scriptures has made him a true patriarch to his family.
Kyle was preceded in death by his father John, brother Craig, oldest son Chris, Sister in-law Lisa, brother in-law Barrett, and son in-law Jared.
Our family would like to thank his co-workers (Casey and Ron) and first responders for their life-saving efforts on the scene, and for the outpouring of love and compassion from everyone shown toward Kyle and his family..
