LaRae Lavender Wilson slipped peacefully from mortality into the loving arms of her husband and eternal companion on Thursday, October 12th, 2023. \n\nLaRae was born January 27, 1938, in Sevier, Utah to loving parents, Ray and Myrl Lavender. She grew to maturity in Sevier, Clearfield and Salt Lake City, where she graduated from West High School. Shortly thereafter, LaRae travelled to visit relatives in Washington state. During that trip she met the love of her life, a young Air Force Lieutenant by the name of Charles Wilson. Soon afterwards they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.\n\nThe following 50 years saw Charles and LaRae’s love continue to grow. They were blessed with four children as the Air Force repeatedly moved the couple from one location to another across the Western United States. Each move brought new friends and new experiences to the growing family. After 20 years on the road, Charles and LaRae finally settled down into their dream home, a gentleman’s farm in South Jordan, Utah. They were immediately welcomed into the community that would be their home for the remainder of their days. Charles and LaRae did close the circle though, travelling back to Washington State as full-time Missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1995.\n\nLaRae took great joy in serving her family, church, and community throughout her life. She was an exemplary mother, always intimately involved with her children, nurturing and training them as they matured. LaRae took an active role wherever her children were involved so she could always be at their side, ready to assist them. This kept her busy in Primary, Scouts, the PTA, and many other church and community service opportunities.\n\nLaRae’s skills, talents and interests covered an incredible spectrum. From elephants to butterflies, from football (or more specifically, the Dallas Cowboys) to bowling, from sewing clothes and quilts to cake decorating, from singing to rock collecting, she was always in the middle of the action.\n\nLaRae was preceded in death by her husband Charles and sister Barbara (Mike). She is survived by her siblings Jim (Maxine), Dennis (Shauna), LeeAnn (Milt), Kim (Bryan), and her children TeriLyn (Rick), Steve (Jaye), Greg (Elizabeth) and Jeff (Suzie) along with 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.\n\nA viewing will be held 6:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, October 22 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary in South Jordan and again 12:00-12:45 PM on Monday, October 23. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM.\nInterment will be at the Veterans Cemetery at Camp Williams.
