Larry Christensen

–

Sandy, Utah

Larry B Christensen passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, to be reunited with his late wife and the love of his life Jacklyn Turner Christensen. Larry lived a life full of love, faith, and family. As a young man, Larry spent his summers helping out on his grandparents’ family farm in Utah Valley. His family moved to the Salt Lake Valley when he started high school, where he met his best friend Lynn Turner, whose sister Jackie would often spend time with them. After switching dates on a triple date one weekend, Larry decided that he liked his new date (Jackie) better and they eventually married and had three sons together. Larry was a proud member of the National Guard for eight years, including one year on active duty. He also worked as a delivery driver for Southeast Furniture and spent many years serving as a custodian for Arcadia Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Bonneville Junior High. However, the work he cherished the most was his job as a dad and grandpa and his volunteer work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Larry served in many capacities in the Church, from being a Scouts and Cub Scouts leader to working in the Jordan River and Draper Temples. He worked with the Scouts to be with his three boys as they grew up, and he would often take his sons with him to help on his father-in-law’s small farm in Murray. As his children grew and started their own families, he and his wife spent much of their time traveling to visit children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Larry loved music and being with his family.

Larry is survived by his three sons, David (Holli Murphy), Alan (Laura Lee Lattin), and James (Carolina Godoy), and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Zachary (Christy Pearce) and his children Anna, Kali, Elsie, Evelyn, Jane, and Levi; Camille (Erik Mikkelsen) and her children Lily and Rosaleen; Cassie (Jordon Partridge) and her children Logan and Silas; Julia (Nathan Babbel) and her children Mila and Alexander; and Kyler (Lindsay Smith) and his children Wesley and Carter. A viewing will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (4760 S State St., Murray, UT 84107). Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 235 E Sego Lily Dr., Sandy, UT 84070, with a viewing beginning at 10:00am. Larry will be interred next to his wife Jackie in the Midvale City Cemetery following the funeral service.
