Laura Lee Hone McConnell passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 after a long, valiant battle with Early Onset Dementia. Born April 11, 1947 to Glenna Wells and Leon R Hone in Spanish Fork, UT. \r\nShe grew up in Midvale, UT with her older brothers and younger sister. As a young adult, music was a very important part of her life. You could often find her dancing on Utah Band Stand, a local syndication of the American Bandstand program. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1965. Her passion for music carried through to her social scene, where she met her soulmate, Dan L. McConnell “Cruisin” State Street listening to Rock and Roll. They were married August 30, 1967 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 11th.\r\nThey continued to dance through life in West Jordan where they lived for over 30 years with their 3 kids. They served the Lord in the LDS Temple for over a decade. Laura Lee dedicated many hours of her life to her Church callings, whether she was teaching the Young Women’s group how to pan for gold, or play Volleyball, she was always involved with the Youth Groups. Her family was extremely important to her, she also devoted many hours to studying genealogy, and learning about her heritage. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, where she served in a leadership position. Laura Lee is survived by her siblings; Shirl Hone; Lester (Karen) Hone; Glennis (Kent) Newbold and her children, Danna (Brice) Clark; Natalie (James) Kaddas and Russell (April) McConnell. Her pride and joy were her 8 grandchildren, who fondly remember having picnics and talking over chili cheese fries. She is preceded in death by her husband, sister-in-law Susan, and her parents. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Carrington Court Memory Facility and Inspiration Hospice for their love and compassion they have shown during this difficult time. \r\nFuneral services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Funeral Home 1007 W South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.), South Jordan, UT 84095 with internment to follow at the West Jordan Cemetery 7800 South 1300 W, West Jordan. Friends may call on Thursday, March 8th from 6-8 and one hour prior to the funeral service at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Funeral Home.
