Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on August 15, 2008, after a long illness.\n\nLaura Lee was born on January 28, 1927, in Wellsville, Utah to Preston Baxter Gunnell and Evelyn (Eva) Poppleton, the sixth of seven children.\n\nLaura dedicated her life to family and serving others. Throughout her life, she served in many capacities as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She always went out of her way to help those in need and had a special love for children. Her neighbors knew her as “Grandma O”. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many events. Laura’s friends were very dear to her and she treasured the lunches and fun they had together. Those who knew her well will always remember her friendly smile, out-going personality, and kindness to others.\n\nSurviving family include her brothers, Parley (Joyce) Gunnell, Verlan (Vone) Gunnell, Ray (Verda) Gunnell; children Mike (Kay) Oldham, Patricia (Bryant) Furness, Richard (Debbie) Oldham, Doug Oldham; and her ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren.\n\nFuneral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at the Cottonwood 7th Ward Building, 5565 S. Neighbor Lane (1530 East), Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Murray, and from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the church prior to funeral services. Interment will be at Wellsville Cemetery following the services.\n\nSpecial thanks to the staff of Care Source Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Laura Lee during the last weeks of her life.
