(Lila) Darlene Olson King Obituary (1932 - 2015)

(Lila) Darlene Olson King, our loving wife and mother, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Friday, June 26, 2015. Darlene was born March 28, 1932 to Julius and Lena Olson in Boise, Idaho. She married Roy Herbert King, Jr. on November 4, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. She had eight children; seven girls and one boy. Darlene dedicated her life to her family, friends and the LDS church. She served with her husband as he presided over the Monterrey Mexico Mission and as Temple Matron of the Mexico City Temple. Darlene was a gifted pianist, secretary, seamstress, gardener and homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and doing genealogy. She is survived by her husband Roy, daughters Kindel (Jerry) Burke, Connie (Greg) Curtis, Linda (William) Youd-Lay, Terry (Curt) Salisbury, Marcy (Paul) Swan, Kay (Brian) Manship, Yvonne (Mark) Bragg, and son Darren (Kerrie) King. She has 29 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, Utah. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at the LDS church at 10168 S. 1100 W., South Jordan, Utah with a viewing from 10:00–10:45 a.m. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery.
