Lorin Kip McRae Obituary (1965 - 2015)

Kip McRae, our beloved father, son, brother and dear friend passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1st, at home surrounded by his loving family. Kip was born in Salt Lake City on July 12, 1965. He was the son of Lorin McRae and Lynne McRae-Mitchell. Kip attended Brighton High School, Salt Lake Community College, and The University of Utah. He went on to become a vital part of McRae Sales & Distributing. His strong work ethic and leadership has contributed to its success for the last 30 years! Kip had a lifelong passion for sports and the outdoors. It began as a child when he competed in ski racing, football, and water skiing along with many other sports. He raced with the Snowbird and Solitude ski racing teams and attended many Junior Olympic events where he always finished in the top five. He later became a ski coach, where he brought many little racers to the winners stand. Kip competed in Brighton Little League Football and went on to win the State championship for Brighton High School in his senior year. He also competed in many water skiing events where he won countless awards. He had a love of almost any sport; golf, camping, riding his Harley, and 4-wheeling. As much as he enjoyed competing in almost any activity, Kip was always eager to help others explore their talents. Kip coached hundreds of boys in Bingham Little League Football. He not only taught them football, but how to be a better person with respect and love for others. Kip coached the sophomore team at Brighton High School and was coaching the sophomore team at Jordan High School at the time of his death. Kip also coached the Bingham High School wrestling team, which medaled in many state, national, and international tournaments. Kips greatest passion was his boys, Tyler, Travis, Jordan and Beau. He spent most of his time coaching them in the sports of their choice, traveling all over the country to attend games and matches. His boys were his life and the life lessons he taught them will be his legacy. Kip was most happy when he was with his boys at the lake boating or at the top of a mountain skiing to the bottom. He loved watching his boys succeed and achieve their goals. Kip is preceded in death by his father, Lorin McRae. He is survived by his sons, Tyler McRae (Candice), Travis McRae, Jordan McRae and Beau McRae, brothers Troy McRae (Karie), Tad McRae (Amber) and his mother Lynne (Mark). Step sisters, Tiffany Jackson (Doug), Tammy Ashby (Rob) and Tracy Gunn. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So), South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30am,.
