Lorna D. Pincock Davies

–

Murray, UT

4/10/1925- 5/18/2014

Lorna D. Pincock Davies was born April 10, 1925 to Douglas Pincock and Rhea Dalling in Sugar City, Idaho. She was the eldest child and grew up alongside her four younger brothers during the Great Depression. As the only girl, she became best friends with her mother Rhea, caring for her until her death.

She attended Sugar Salem High School, Ricks College, and ultimately graduated from Brigham Young University with a teaching degree. A highlight of her life was teaching the second grade in elementary school for many years. She married Joseph Davies Jr. on July 28, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had four children in which only three survived. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary together before she was widowed May 24, 2004.

Lorna's later life was plagued by arthritis, which caused her pain everyday. Still, she was a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints even until the end of her life. She would always hobble her way to the church house despite her obvious bodily discomfort. She was a beloved lady and had many friends among her neighbors. She was always seen serving others and her two grandchildren, Ellie and Braden Brainich, would not have been a part of her family without her loving help.

There was not a more genuine fan of the Utah Jazz than Lorna Davies. Whenever there was a game on, you would find her in her "Cinderella" room cheering on her favorite players and getting mad at the referees for "cheating." When it wasn't basketball season, you would find her supporting her alma mater, BYU, and trying to tell Bronco Mendenhall how to do his job.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Davies Jr., her son Joseph Douglas Davies, and her brother Blair Pincock. She is survived by her brothers Vern, Max and George Pincock; children Luanne (David) Simmons, Susan (Roy) Arroyo, and Bryan (Cinda) Davies; grandchildren Michael, Darci, Brandon, Clint, Jessica, Teresa, Stephen, Joshua, Heather, and Nichole; and great grandchildren Hailey, David, Nora, Ellie, Braden, Brianne, Cecily, Heber, Jaycee, Jordyn, Kodyn, Constance Elizabeth, Seth, Savannah, and William.

The family would like to thank Harmony Hospice for responding so quickly and Jenkin-Soffe Mortuary for taking good care of her.
