Lorne E. Schmunk Obituary (1951 - 2011)

Lorne Edward Schmunk peacefully passed away in his sleep on April 12, 2011. He was born June 30, 1951 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Edward and Mable Schmunk. Lorne received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta and a Master’s of Business Administration from BYU where he became forever “True Blue”. Lorne was Vice President of Appliances and Electronic Merchandising at RC Willey. He worked there for over 30 years. He enjoyed the relationships he had with his associates which were filled with lighthearted humor, fun and love. Through his work he was able to travel the world and made friends wherever he went. Lorne was sealed to his eternal companion, Dianna, in the Bountiful Utah Temple. They were true soulmates and shared a life filled with love. They enjoyed traveling, having fun, and spending time with their family. Lorne faithfully served in many callings in the LDS church. Most recently, he served with his wife in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. He had a strong testimony and knowledge of the Gospel and lived it fully. He is survived by his eternal sweetheart, Dianna, sons James and Christopher, daughters Lyndsay, Sara, and Nicole (Aaron), and his 4 precious grandchildren, Maddi, Zach, Ian and Abby. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Charlotte, parents-in-law James and Patricia Craner, a large extended family and his loyal companion Foxie. Lorne was preceded in death by his father, Edward Schmunk. His mother, Mable, recently passed away. She loved and adored her “precious” boy and was there to take him back to his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18th at 11 am at the Country Crossing Stake Center, 10860 S. 3200 W. Friends may call Sunday evening from 5-7pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment at the Larkin Sunset Gardens.
