Loveeta Youngberg Obituary (1928 - 2025)

Loveeta Jones Youngberg On July 14, 2025, Letha Loveeta Jones Youngberg peacefully fell asleep in death at Midvale, Utah, one week shy of her 97th birthday. She was born July 21, 1928 to Daniel Raymond Jones and Jessie Winn Jones at Cardwell, MO. The second of eight children, she grew up in the woods of Paragould, AR where the family were cotton share croppers. In 1943, the family moved to Caruthers, CA. After school she chopped cotton and picked grapes during harvest time to help the family financially. Loveeta loved her Creator, Jehovah God and his written word, the Bible. Along with her mother and older brother, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Wolf River at Memphis, TN in September of 1942. From an early age she had a great love of people. When she was eighteen years old, she came to Salt Lake City, UT to share in preaching the good news of God’s Kingdom foretold in Matthew 24:14 (“this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations”). She wanted to share with all she could the Bible’s promise at Revelation 21:4 of a beautiful paradise earth coming in the near future (“he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore”). It was there that she met and married Burton Sund Youngberg. They were united in marriage on May 29, 1948. Together they raised their four children, Bruce, Sherrie, Terri and Robin Kent in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City. Loveeta was always content with the simple things in life. She was a hard worker during her whole life. To help supplement the family income, she took in ironing and tended children. Her door was always open to her children’s friends. At times, she also took in her own siblings along with nieces and nephews. There was always a bowl of stew or beans available for anyone that showed up. She said that she could never carry a tune, but didn’t want her children to be like that, so she spent some of her hard earned money to pay for music lessons for all of them. People that knew her remember that she always had a smile on her face. She loved to talk to people, young or old. Within ten minutes of meeting someone new, she would get their whole life story. In later years, she took care of her parents and several others that needed assistance in their old age. She didn’t just help people with their personal or material needs. More importantly to her, she was always sharing with them how they could benefit from the Bible’s promises of a better life in the very near future. She was an outstanding example of a truly spiritual, Christian woman. She believed in the statement at Proverbs 22:1 (“a good name is to be chosen rather than great wealth”) Her “good name” was known by everyone who was acquainted with her. She is survived by her devoted children, Robin Kent, Sherrie (Lou) and Terri (Ralph), also her three grandchildren, Erik, Kyler, and Christina along with two great grandsons, Matt and Marcus. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, Kenneth, Carlis, Paul Dennis, Wanda, Varonna, Shirley and Glenda, and her firstborn son, Bruce. The family is very grateful for the wonderful care and attention that Loveeta received from her caregivers during the past eighteen months or so, with special thanks going out to April and Mery of Elevation Hospice.
