Lucy Godfrey Freeman McBride, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on August 6, 2010. She was born in Murray Utah on June 14, 1917 to Horace Godfrey and Lucy Bringhurst Godfrey. She was raised on a dairy farm where she learned the value of hard work. She was the sixth child in a family of three brothers and four sisters. After graduating from Jordan high School, she attended and graduated from Cosmetology school. She served a mission in the Northern States Mission. She married Carl Freeman on April 10, 1940 and they were blessed with six children. They divorced in 1964.
She fulfilled her lifetime desire graduating from nursing school in 1969. She worked at Cottonwood hospital for eighteen years. Following retirement, she taught Health Careers at Brighton High and Skyline High. She served on Temple Square as a guide for several years. She spent her final working years as a nurse for a Plastic Surgeon.
Her family meant everything to her. She was a loving and devoted mother to two daughters and four sons. All four sons served LDS missions. She worked long hours to support her sons on their missions. She remained faithful through the loss of a lovely daughter Anita, due to a tragic accident and a daughter in law Linda, who passed away from cancer. She lovingly cared for Lynda’s four children during Linda’s illness and after her passing. She survived colon cancer twice and made every day count with her Father in Heaven, her family and her friends.
Her life was filled with charity and compassion for those who were less fortunate. Often times, she was a second mother to other children in times of need. Each year, she gave birthday and Christmas gifts to disabled children in her neighborhood. They praised her name as she cheered their lives.
She married Lee McBride in 1988. They enjoyed seven years together before his death. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Bennett. She is survived by five children: Dal (Nola) Freeman, Farmington Utah; Deaun (Mark) Zrno, Boise Idaho; John (Bridgette) Freeman, Sandy Utah; Scott (Kathy) Freeman, Marion Virginia; Brad (Jenni) Freeman, Lindon Utah.
