Marty C. DeJong

Marty DeJong died at home on August 13, 2015 with his family by his side. He was never one to seek the limelight, but people were always drawn to him. Described as tough on the outside but a big softy on the inside, he was talented at making friends quickly with his ability to strike up conversations and find common interests with everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his dry, quick and sometimes sharp unfiltered humor. He enjoyed the ocean and his laidback personality was well suited for beach life. He preferred traveling on two wheels as opposed to four and was the self-proclaimed Master of the Curves. Marty's home is a reflection of his great skill as a finish carpenter. His work can also be seen in many historical, commercial, and residential properties throughout Utah.

Marty is survived by his wife Jodi; his children Chelsie and Travis; granddaughter Lola; sisters Virginia (Pete) Olson and Teresa (Brent) Hyde. Marty was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Please join us for a celebration of his life at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10600 S), South Jordan on Thursday, August 20th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates will follow at 1:30 pm.
