Maile 'Akana Latu Obituary (1957 - 2021)

Our beloved Father and Patriarch of the family, Maile Akana Latu, also known as “Pa” to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on May 15, 2021. Maile was born November 2nd, 1957 in Ha’ateiho, Tonga to his parents Maopa And Sione Latu. He was the youngest child of 8 siblings: Haniteli (brother, deceased), Eliesa (brother, deceased), Moana (sister, deceased) ,Moeakiola (brother, deceased), Teuila (sister, deceased), and his only surviving sibling left, Lupe Mcarthy. Maile migrated to the United States from Tonga in 1977 to Salt Lake City, UT. Met and married his eternal love Pakeina Tama’a Molisi on July 8, 1978. Maile was preceded in death by his oldest daughter of 5 children, Makueta Maopa Lea’aemanu in 2017, and is survived by the love of his life and spouse, Pakeina Tam’a Latu, and his remaining children: Moeakiola Akana Latu, Lupe Puletea Fifita (Viliamipele), Fatafehi Fakana’ana’a Latu (Lani), Tangikina Heilala Katoa (Tonga), and all his grandchildren.
