Salt Lake City, UT
Margery A. Gold, our loving mother, left this mortal life to join her sweetheart, Merrold, and her daughter, Sharolyn Erickson. She was born October 25, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Zina Godfrey and Gilbert Thomas Austin. She married her Eternal companion, Merrold A. Gold, June 22, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Merrold and Margery had four children.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and community. Her life was dedicated to serving others and the Lord. She served six years as a hostess at the Beehive House; she was a Salt Lake Temple worker; she was a member and past officer of the DAR, DUP, PTA and the RWC; and a delegate when President Reagan was nominated. She volunteered for the Red Cross, the Bridge program, Mt. Olympus Senior Center and was a member of the Bennion Lions Club. She was a room mother for each of her four children. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.
She loved to line dance, swim, create porcelain dolls, paint in oil, watercolor and acrylics. She was an avid reader and a prolific book collector.
Margery and Merrold spent many summers in Honolulu, Hawaii and Sun City West, Arizona where they had a home. They loved to travel and visited many countries including Russia and parts of China.
Margery attended Henager Business College after graduating from Murray High School. She graduated Phi Kappa Phi from BYU and was duly initiated into Alpha-Lambda Delta. She did graduate work at the U of U.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; daughter; son-in-law, Steven; grandson, Erik Gold,; her parents; and sister, Ethel Jacobs.
