Maria De Anorve

–

West Jordan, Utah

Maria de los Angeles Lorenzo, 56, born January 10, 1968 in Cuajinicuilapa, Guerrero, Mexico to father, Carlos Anorve and mother, Elena Lorenzo. Succumbed to complications from her ongoing battle with ovarian cancer passed away on February 4, 2024.

She was a woman defined by her dreams and not by her limits. She was a devout follower of Christ with strong character and even stronger faith that looked out for others without seeking compensation or recognition.

She was the first of her family to gain American citizenship and help bring her family to the land of opportunity. In marriage to Arturo Tomax, she gave birth to three sons: Arthur, Erny, & Brandon. Motherhood was her most cherished responsibility as she raised her boys to be men from a young age; “when I’m dead you’re not going to be lost” was one of her favorite sayings, as well as “it’s not about what you like, it’s about what’s best for you.” She ensured her children never forgot their roots and only allowed Spanish to be spoken to her in her house. Maria always had the bigger picture in mind and didn’t let fear stop her progress.

She is survived by her sisters Minerva and Lucrecia, her brother Ernesto, her mother Elena, and her three sons.
