Marie "Colleen" Bylund Morrison Goddard Obituary (1931 - 2017)

Colleen was born in Provo, Utah on January 28, 1931 to Eric O. and Sophia J. Bylund. She was the youngest of fourteen children in Eric and Sophia's family. When she was nineteen, she married John Howard Morrison. They started their family in Orem, Utah, where they had four children: Linda, Greg, Julie and Marie. After 13 years, they moved to Longmont/Niwot, Colorado for the next 15 years, then moved back to be close to family and landed in West Jordan, Utah. Colleen and Howard divorced in 1987. Colleen unexpectedly met and fell head-over-heels in love with Jack "Pood" Goddard. They married in January 1991 and although their time together was only two years in length, they shared a special, loving marriage and often joked and told stories of how they gave each other a new purpose in life. Colleen loved her family with her whole heart. She would do anything for her children and up until the day that she passed away, Colleen's first concern was always for her children's well-being. Nothing gave her more joy than to spend time with her family. Her eyes lit up whenever family members came to visit, especially when they brought her ice cold Pepsi, a strawberry shake or french fries with lots of fry sauce. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease. We will miss her sweet spirit and tender heart. She was a faithful servant of God and a member of the LDS faith. She enjoyed being an Ordinance Worker at the South Jordan Temple for several years. Colleen's faith rarely waned even with the many health issues she endured during her adult life. Colleen spent the past seven years living at the Draper Rehab and Care Center where she received care from loving and supportive staff whom she came to love. The family will always be especially grateful to Meranda (hospice nurse), Roberta, Spencer, Jerri, Stacy and Anabel. Caretakers like these are angels and can never be thanked enough for their support and tender loving care. Our beloved Mom, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend passed away from natural causes in the early morning hours of May 6, 2017. She is survived by her children: Linda (Jim) Morison of Lehi; Greg Morrison (Irene Wintch-Partner) of Murray and Marie (Mike) Gutknecht of South Jordan; and her siblings Ruth Kjar of Manti and Sterling Bylund of Orem. She has 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 fur grandbabies. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her first husband, Howard, daughter Julie, grandson Randy; parents and many siblings. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at Santaquin Cemetery, 275 W. Main Street, Santaquin, Utah.
