Marion Sidney Carter

Marion Sidney Carter – Our
Father, grandfather and great grand
father, uncle and a friend to many,
passed away at LDS hospital on 12/05/2005.
Darlene Marie (Shipley) Carter, his wife and
love of his life, proceeded him in death and
are happily reunited together again.
Marion was born to Ralph L.
Carter and Dovie (Harkness) Carter
In Bingham, Utah in 1928 and grew
up in Dinkyville/Bingham. He had
four brothers Ralph Carlyle, Richard
Lynn, Forest and Armon, all proceeded
him in death.
He joined the Merchant Marines
In 1944 and then joined the
Marines Corp, where he won his first
light-weight title fight with a knock
out, 15 seconds into the first round.
He married Darlene Shipley
In 1948 and they had four children,
Marion S. Carter Jr. (Sid), Lorraine
Wester, Ralph L. Carter and
Kenneth B. Carter. The family was sealed
together at the LDS Temple in Los Angeles
California in 1962.Seven grand
children; John Wester, Blake Powell,
Brenda Parent, Jenny Fredrickson,
Wendy Carter, Brandy Boulter and
Travis Carter and eight great grand
children.
He worked in law enforcement
for most of his life. Graduated from Westminster College in 1979 Magna cum
Laude, was a pilot and retired as Sheriff
of Tooele County, Utah.
He loved the outdoors, flying
and being around his family. He will
be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be
Friday, December 9, 2005 at
1:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary,
4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah
where friends and family may call from
6-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour
prior to services on Friday.
