Marion Sidney Carter – Our\nFather, grandfather and great grand \nfather, uncle and a friend to many,\npassed away at LDS hospital on 12/05/2005. \nDarlene Marie (Shipley) Carter, his wife and\nlove of his life, proceeded him in death and \nare happily reunited together again. \n Marion was born to Ralph L.\nCarter and Dovie (Harkness) Carter\nIn Bingham, Utah in 1928 and grew \nup in Dinkyville/Bingham. He had \nfour brothers Ralph Carlyle, Richard \nLynn, Forest and Armon, all proceeded\n him in death.\n He joined the Merchant Marines\nIn 1944 and then joined the\nMarines Corp, where he won his first\nlight-weight title fight with a knock\nout, 15 seconds into the first round. \n He married Darlene Shipley\nIn 1948 and they had four children,\nMarion S. Carter Jr. (Sid), Lorraine\nWester, Ralph L. Carter and \nKenneth B. Carter. The family was sealed\ntogether at the LDS Temple in Los Angeles \nCalifornia in 1962.Seven grand\nchildren; John Wester, Blake Powell,\n Brenda Parent, Jenny Fredrickson, \nWendy Carter, Brandy Boulter and \nTravis Carter and eight great grand \nchildren. \n He worked in law enforcement\nfor most of his life. Graduated from Westminster College in 1979 Magna cum\nLaude, was a pilot and retired as Sheriff\nof Tooele County, Utah.\n He loved the outdoors, flying\nand being around his family. He will \nbe missed by all who knew him.\n Funeral services will be\nFriday, December 9, 2005 at\n1:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary,\n4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah\nwhere friends and family may call from\n6-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour\nprior to services on Friday.
