Mark Ingalls

Bluffdale, Utah

Mark LaVar Ingalls (68) of Bluffdale, Utah passed away on September 18, 2026. He was enjoying his last round of golf when his time on Earth came to a close. As a disciple of Christ, Mark found peace in his life through his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and service, alongside his unmatched enthusiasm for BYU sports and an enduring love for his family, friends, and faith.

Born in June of 1958, Mark was known by all for his silly sense of humor, love of sports, and his generous, teasing heart. He grew up in the heat of the Arizona desert and, later, in the shadow of the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. Throughout his youth, he loved playing baseball, tennis, and golf, and hanging out with his brother and two sisters. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1976, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Psychology in 1983. Later in life, he also earned an MBA from the University of La Verne. His generational ties to BYU ran deep; while there, he passionately cheered on the Cougars and met the love of his life, future wife, and mother to his children, Terri.

Mark lived a life centered entirely on others. He was constantly finding ways to serve those around him. As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he never wavered in his testimony of Jesus Christ. He learned to implicitly trust in the Savior, which brought him great peace and joy—a joy he shared unapologetically with all who knew him.

Most recently, Mark served as the Manager of Information Technology at the Natural History Museum of Utah. His professional expertise and genuine kindness allowed him to lead the IT team in supporting the museum’s exhibits and special events. He loved to talk about and share the new exhibits at the museum with others, especially with his children and grandchildren.

Outside of work, Mark’s true passions were on display. He spent his weekends on the golf course, building deep friendships as he competed as part of the Utah chapter of the Amateur Players Tour. A competitor at heart, he won multiple tournaments and was awarded the Rocky Mountain Chapter Comeback Player of the Year in 2022, the same year he won the Division 5 Championship for the chapter.

When he wasn’t on the green, he could be found wearing Cougar blue, supporting BYU with unmatched passion across every sport. He was equally dedicated to serving in his local ward, where he planned unforgettable parties and shared his testimony of Jesus Christ. Above all else, he was his grandchildren's biggest fan. He cheered them on from the sidelines of whatever they were doing--from sporting events to music recitals to dance competitions to church programs to school plays and so much more. If his grandkids were involved, he was there.

Known as Mark to most, but Papa Mark or Papa Silly to those closest to him, his heart belonged entirely to his family and to his Savior, Jesus Christ—a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and disciple of Christ. He will be incredibly missed by all who knew him. Until we “Rise & Shout” once more together, we love you and will miss you, Papa Mark.

Mark is survived by his children: Alicia (David), Sarah (Jon), Micah (Gerilyn), and Andrew (Taylor); his grandchildren: Kyler, Kayla, Kara, Abby, Liam, Amelia, Nolan, Gavin, William, and McKay; and his siblings: Debbie (Gary), Marci (Tom), and David (Andra).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Gayle Ingalls; his beloved wife, Terri Wolfe Ingalls; and his grandson, Luke.

Mark’s family invites all who knew and loved him to join in celebrating his life. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am – 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, on Friday, October 2, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 15040 South Mountainside Drive (2400 W), Bluffdale, UT 84065. Interment will follow at Elysian Burial Gardens in Millcreek, Utah.

In honor of one of Mark’s favorite passions, attendees are invited to wear blue and white. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LDS Philanthropies to support global humanitarian aid.
