Mark Riet

Mark T. Riet of Murray, UT passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his close-knit family on Monday, April 29, 2024 after a long battle with liver cancer.

Mark was born in Murray, Utah on June 7, 1961. He retired in 2011 as lead arborist for Murray City Power after serving the city for over 30 years. He was an athlete in his early life, playing football and basketball for Granite High School. His love of sports carried on to his adult years through bowling leagues, golfing with his buddies, coaching his daughter’s softball teams and you bet you could always find him watching every Denver Broncos and LA Dodgers game. Mark was a gamblin’ man who loved to travel. His favorite places to visit were Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, New Orleans and Denver. He loved Motown and Country music.

Mark was an outstanding and proud father of two daughters who adored and respected him like no other. He was the best grandpa to their kids and someone you could count on as a son, brother, uncle and friend. Although he was known to have a tough exterior, he really had a big heart and cared deeply for his loved ones.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Shirley and his sister, Julie. He is survived by his daughters: Ryanne (Stephanie); Victoria (Salvador); grandchildren: Lucia, Mark, Alexander, Kaylee and Addison; nephews: Jake and Jared.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
