Martin “Marty” Edward Worwood passed away on March 27, 2022, at the age of 70 after a five-year battle with cancer.\n\nMarty was born to Ed and Myrle Worwood on Oct 2, 1951, in Nephi, UT. After serving an LDS mission in Australia, he attended college at Brigham Young University where he was a member of both the Sounds of Freedom and Young Ambassadors. He toured all over the world with these groups and met the love of his life, Becky Barton, who was also a performer with the tour group. After proposing three times, Marty and Becky were married on April 23, 1976, in the Salt Lake Temple.\n\nMarty was an extraordinary musician and performer from a young age, and has performed in places such as the Marriott Center, the governor’s mansion, and the 2002 Olympics. It didn’t matter if he was performing with his a ‘Capella group The Cadillacs, solo with a guitar, or singing with the ward choir, Marty loved it all.\n\nMarty was a great cook, making dinner for all his kids and grandkids every Sunday. He made the best BBQ sauce and chicken, dinner rolls, beef stew, pies, and cakes. He had recently discovered a passion for making and dipping chocolates and candies. Cherry chocolates and lemon and orange creams were his specialties.\n\nMarty was the funnest dad and the life of the party. He always had the right joke to make you crack a smile. Just ask his family about the golden screw. He loved gardening, woodworking, all things Lord of the Rings, and teasing his grandkids. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed and fulfilled many callings in the LDS church. Marty had a never-ending capacity to love people. His family, friends, and co-workers meant the world to him and he lived his life to serve them.\n\nMarty is predeceased by his parents, Myrle and Ed, older brother Scott (Cynthia), and dogs Meriadoc and Pippin. He is survived by his wife Becky, and children Rebecca, Emmalee (Geoffrey) Loos, Mikelle (Faustino) Ramirez, Andrew (Kenia), Danielle (David) Garcia, and Micah, and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Tony (Jeanne), and Skip (Danise), and sister Tammie (Randy) Howard.\n\nFuneral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 am at the South Jordan 5th Ward, 2550 W. Shields Lane, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 7:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah and on Friday from 10:00-10:45 am at the church. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery.
