Marvin J. Thompson, 85, passed away on September 10, 2008, at his home in Murray, UT.\n\nHe was born July 6, 1923 in St. Anthony, ID, the eleventh of thirteen children of Albert Jardine Thompson and Rebecca Stimpson. He married Leila Levina Eldredge on November 30, 1945 in Pocatello, ID and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City, UT Temple.\n\nMarvin graduated high school in St. Anthony and completed a year of college at the University of Idaho Southern Branch in aviation mechanics. He served in the Army\nin 1942. \n\nHe worked at the Naval Ordinance Plant in Pocatello, Idaho, then Thompson Electric\nin Salt Lake, and retired as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service.\n\nAs a member of the LDS church, he held the office of High Priest and served as a \nscoutmaster and ward clerk. He enjoyed woodcarving and was a member of the \nMurray Woodcarvers club.\n\nHe is survived by his wife Leila Levina E. Thompson of Murray, UT; children,\nCarolie Nipko (John A.) of Liberty, UT., Linda Browning (Dennis) of Roy, UT., \nSusan Thompson of Salt Lake City, UT., M. Wayne Thompson of Strongsville, OH., Steven J. Thompson (Dorothy) of Murray, UT., 18 grand-children; 48 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Irwin A. Thompson of Riverton, UT and Keith D. Thompson of Reno, NV.\n\nPreceded in death by his parents; two brothers; eight sisters; and one grandson.\n\nFuneral services will be held in the Murraydale Ward, 6300 S. 300 E., Murray on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held Friday from \n6-8 P.M. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, Murray, UT. and from \n9:30-10:30 A.M. prior to the services Saturday at the church.\n\nPlace of interment Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S.
