Mary Marshall Jolley

–

Murray, UT

Mary Marshall Jolley passed away peacefully at home, Monday, 1/30/2017. She lived her life to the fullest and remained a stalwart example of how to live a gospel-centered life to the very end.

Mary was born 11/25/1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard James and Evelyn Thompson Marshall. She was the fourth of eight children. She often recounted happy times from her childhood, including time spent at her beloved family cabin. She spent three years, from 1971-74, in Australia while her father served as a mission president for the LDS Church. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1977, and earned a degree in elementary education from the University of Utah. She married Tony Zack Jolley on March 20, 1981 in the Salt Lake Temple and together they built a life centered in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mary's greatest joys were the gospel and her family. Notwithstanding the severe physical trials that she endured for many years, Mary lived her life to the end with unshaken faith. She spent her life in service to the LDS Church in many callings, including stake and ward Relief Society president, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and Young Women's president. She was the ward newsletter editor for 19 years. Teaching was a life-long love for her, and she influenced many with her superb talents in teaching the gospel. She was also a wonderful pianist, and over the course of her lifetime helped over 100 piano students develop a love for music. We will miss our wife and mother so deeply, but are comforted by the fact that we will see her again and are sealed for eternity as a family.

In addition to her devoted husband, Mary is survived by her three children: Megan (Paul) Martinez, Zachary, and Spencer; three grandchildren: Isaac, Jacob, and William Martinez. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Stephen (Jan), Matthew (Tamara), David, Sarah Naylor, Martha (David) Sloan and Nathan (Christine). She is preceded in death by her parents, and her infant brother, Joseph.
