“Together Forever”
On August 8, 2009, Mary Tingey Lund, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 98.
Mary was born August 13, 1910 in Brigham City, Utah to James and Sarah Tingey. Mary married Howe J. Lund on October 21, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many calling and teaching positions. She loved temple work and went as often as possible. She started teaching school in 1930 and retired 50 years later. She touched many young lives.
Mom loved to crochet and was eager to share her creations with others. Road trips with Cal were a favorite. It was like traveling Route 66 or seeing the USA in your Chevrolet. She was a huge sports fan, especially the UTAH JAZZ. Georgia showed great and loving care for Mom for the past 20 years.
Mary is survived by her eight children, DeeAnn (Jay) Wallace, Garda (Gary) Wardle, Georgia Grover, Richard (Connie) Lund, Quin Lund, Cal Lund, Howard (Denise) Lund and Kristen (Dave) Kimball; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her sweetheart, eternal husband, Howe J. Lund. She will be greeted by her parents and 12 brothers and sisters in one huge family reunion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Farm Hill Ward, 5235 South Wesley Road (1120 East) in Murray, Utah, under the direction of Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary. The viewing will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Care Source Hospice for their tender loving care for Mom in her last days.
