Matt Tom Borovatz, Sr. Obituary (1926 - 2009)

"Dede"Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away November 28, 2009. Matt was born in Park City, Utah June 11, 1926 to Matt and Rose Borovatz. Graduated from Murray High School in 1943. Served in World War II, Western Pacific Luzon Philippines Island from 1944 to 1946. Married Lena King on October 22, 1948. He worked at Utah Sash & Door, retired from Reynolds Metal Inc.After retirement Matt volunteered his time at Calvin Smith Elementary which he enjoyed very much. Matt loved to hunt, fish, bowl and "Swing a Hammer." But most of all he loved spending time with his family.Survived by his wife Lena, sons, Matt T. Jr. (Mitzi), Mark (Marilyn) and daughter Katharine Spencer (Dave Jr.). Five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother Steve Borovatz, and sister Lucy Zurlo. Special friends Mel and Alice Hochhalter. Preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather Vick Marinch, sister Katie, stepbrothers, Steve and Johnny Marinch.We would like to give a special thanks to Mark Greenwood for the help he provided to Matt and Lena and to their close neighbors. Also to Ray and Lou Jackson for all their help with the cabin.Dede, you will be in our hearts forever. We love you and will miss you. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment Murray Cemetery with Military Honors.
