Sandy, Utah
Max William Evans passed away on April 25, 2023 to return to his heavenly home. He was born on November 23, 1932 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from Davis High School, where he enjoyed sports and friends. He served a wonderful three-year mission to France where he loved the people. He graduated from the University of Utah in Chemical Engineering and Business. He met the love of his life, the beautiful Kay Cummings, at church and they married on October 3, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. He lovingly cared for Kay the last several years while her health was declining.
Max was an optimistic and friendly man who loved people and adventures. He was an avid skier all of his adult life and loved skiing any run. He taught his four children and many of his grandchildren to ski. Max had a wanderlust for travel, meeting people, and stayed positive in many circumstances. He loved being up in the mountains and particularly cherished his summer trips to Snowbird and Island Park. He enjoyed hunting in the mountains, eating Mexican food, telling stories, and sharing the harvest from his large garden. He appreciated living in California and going for walks on the beach. Family was important to Max and Kay as they gathered their family together in many places creating lots of fun memories.
He was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings, including Bishop and a temple worker in the San Diego and Draper Temples. He delighted in serving the young single adults in the San Diego area for many years.
He worked for Culligan International with tenacity, loyalty, and dedication for decades. He was a voracious learner of his industry. He was a member of Toastmasters where he practiced honing his public speaking skills.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kay, and three children: Deborah K. Hansen (David), Janine Evans, Gregg W. Evans (Laura); ten grandchildren, Rebecca Chamberlain (Alan), Jennifer Nishiguchi, Valerie N. Bradshaw (Michael), Michael Nishiguchi (Michelle), Jessica N. Ames (Benjamin), Kimberly Hansen, Emily Bean (Jordan), Elizabeth Hansen, Charlotte M. Evans, and Bartholomew W. Evans; eleven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Michelle E. Williams, parents George and Martha Evans, and two brothers, John Gary Evans and Robert Bruce Evans.
