Melvin H. Smith, born September 4, 1924 to Andrew and Myrtle Hill Smith. Passed away October 2, 2009 in SLC, UT. Married Anne Gayle Mitchell Smith, together they had one son, Garren F. Smith. Married Margaret C. Kehl Davies on April 15, 1975, together they shared thirty-one years in love. She passed away September 1, 2006.
Fargo was proud of his military service, his life’s work as a bus driver for Continental Trailways and Lewis Bros. Stages and as a cab driver and golf pro. Papa spent his life in love and service to his family. He enjoyed sharing his love, home and last days with his two special great-great-grandchildren, Aubree and Arlo.
He is survived by his son, Garren F. Smith, grandsons, Mark (Amanda) Smith, Tim Riet, granddaughters, Tammy (Frank) Neumann, Teri Riet and Traci (Charles) Chidester. 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His care was provided by his 2 great-granddaughters, Brandy Warner and Tiffany (Euclides) Cruz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anne, wife Margaret, step-daughter Marjean Riet-Burke, daughter-in-law Sandra Smith, sisters Arlean and Clarice, and brother Raymond.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, 12:00 noon at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah, with a viewing on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
