Michael Emerson Loveland, 66, of Salt Lake City, died at his home Tuesday May 10, 2022. He was born the oldest of six children on December 18, 1955 to Emerson Ray and the late Helen Lois Loveland, of South Jordan, Utah. Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was full of silly faces and eager to help anyone in need. He retired in 2021 but loved driving a taxi cab in the DC metro area for decades. After graduating from Herndon High School in Virginia, Mike served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Montreal, Canada. Following his mission he returned to Utah where he met his wife of 25 years, Debra Sutherland, whom he married for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on February 27, 1981. While in Utah, Mike and his wife Debra were blessed with two daughters, Jessica and Karen. He then moved back to Virginia in 1988 where he stayed until Debra’s passing in 2006. \n\nHe is survived by his daughters, Jessica (Gary) Jouvelakas, and Karen Loveland; his father, Emerson Loveland; 4 of his 5 sisters, Jenny (Jeff) Sawyer, Aleta (Dave) Keddington, Allyson (Rob) Johnston, and JoAnn Hawkes; and, six grandchildren, Emily, Edward, Joshua, Olivia, Madeline and Debra. He is preceded in death by his wife Debra Loveland, Mother Helen Loveland and Sister Lynette Denning. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, May 17th at 1pm at the Brigham City Cemetery at 300 E. 300 S. Brigham City, UT. Interment will immediately follow.
