Michael Ryan McGarvey, 48, passed away on April 29, 2021 in Sandy, UT. The following was written by Mike prior to his death:\r\n\r\nI was born to Michael Herbert McGarvey and Carmen Marie (Salazar) McGarvey on a beautiful spring morning on May 26, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah. \r\n\r\nI grew to become a hard headed SOB; someone who never missed a chance to tell you how it is. Only child. Graduated from the U in 1996 and retired in 2016 after many years of passing natural gas. Widowed from a storybook marriage of twelve years to Gina Marie (Costanza) McGarvey, and somehow never lost my laugh. I’m a spiritual vagabond. I’ve collected the study of five religions and have been formally baptized in three; I like the idea of having better odds, just in case. My true spiritual source was the great outdoors in the mountains, rivers and deserts, no matter where, in a tent and always with a campfire visible from orbit. Exploring new places has always been kinda my thing, then I love taking friends on adventures to the places I’ve found. I’ve never traveled with or cooked for anyone I didn’t love. Well, I hope I died well, regardless, from here on you’ll have to do without my humor, razor sharp antagonizing wit, stubbornness and all around bad*** attitude; stealing a quote from a dear friend, “I am a lot cooler than you think you are.”\r\n\r\nI’m survived by my dogs, Moki and Echo, half-sister, Sheri, and tons of family and friends. Lightning struck me twice when I met Brandy Hornsby; I wish we had more time. I am also preceded in death by both parents and spouse. Oh, and my secret word to determine if the medium is legit is “Stink”.\r\n-End-\r\n\r\nNote: As per Mike’s final requests, there will be no services. Please celebrate his life in a manner that brings you peace, laughter, and wonderful memories.
