With a heart full of love and a spirit defined by service, Nello A. Beckstead Jr., a devoted husband, father, and veteran, peacefully passed away on October 12, 2023. Born on February 17, 1936, in Salt Lake City, UT, Nello spent 87 cherished years among us, enriching our lives with his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication. Known simply as Nello to his family and friends, he made his home in West Valley City, Utah, where he nurtured a family that was the center of his universe.\n\nNello's life was a tapestry of service and love - as a Field Service Manager in the Telecommunications sector, as a proud member of the US Army, and as a dedicated member of the American Legion, Post 71. His love for his country was only surpassed by his love for his family. Nello skillfully wove his passions into acts of kindness, crocheting hats and scarves for donation to children's hospitals and veteran organizations. His spirit of giving was not confined to his free time alone; he tirelessly served as a member of the honor guard, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. As Robert Louis Stevenson once said, "Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant." Nello planted seeds of love, generosity, and dedication throughout his life and the harvest of his goodwill continues to live on in the hearts of those he touched.\n\nNello is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Beckstead, and his extended family of children and grandchildren. He now joins his parents, Nello Sr. and Eleanor Beckstead, and his three children in eternal rest. As we remember Nello, we invite friends and family to join us in honoring him at the viewing on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 10:00 - 11:30 am at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home located at 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 pm at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.\n\nWe encourage everyone who knew and loved Nello to visit his memorial page. Please share stories, upload pictures, and join us in celebrating a life that was filled with love, dedication, and unending generosity. Your memories and photos are a testament to Nello's beautiful life journey and will serve as a comfort in the days to come. Let's remember Nello not for his departure but for the remarkable life he led and the love he spread with such generosity.
