Nichole “Colie” Cherie Stephens, age 47, passed away on June 5, 2025, in Magna, Utah.
Born with an open heart and a vibrant spirit, Nichole touched the lives of everyone she met. Known for her infectious energy, kind soul, and endless curiosity, she had a way of making strangers feel like lifelong friends—often greeting new faces with what family playfully called an “interrogation,” simply because she loved getting to know people deeply and sincerely.

Nichole proudly served as an officer at the Salt Lake County Jail before devoting herself to her family as a homemaker. She was an avid gardener, a talented crafter, and the undeniable life of every gathering. Whether she was dancing to her favorite songs or helping someone in need, her joy and generosity were constants in the lives of those around her.

Her greatest joy and proudest role in life was being a mother to her beloved son, Gavin Olsen, whom she lovingly called her “miracle baby.” Watching Gavin grow, play soccer, and thrive brought her immeasurable happiness.

Nichole is survived by her son Gavin; her significant other Richard Spear; her mother Sherre Lyn Johnson (Larsen); her stepfather James Johnson; and her siblings Robert Johnson, Madison Johnson, Deja Wiscomb (Ben), Brittany Douros (Zach), Tyler Gohring (Cheyenne), and Jordan Gohring (Kaylee). Nichole was also survived by many other friends and family who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, Ricky Dean Rodriguez.

A celebration of Nichole’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, UT 84107. Friends and family are invited to come together to share stories, laughter, and memories in honor of the unforgettable woman she was.
