South Jordan, Utah
Nola Mary Josie Reid, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on September 22, 2026.
Mom was born in Talmage, Utah on December 31, 1930, to Joe Josie and Norma Beckstead. She was the 5th of 7 children. She always thought her birthday was a burden, but we loved our New Year’s celebrations with her.
Her family moved around for her Dad’s job and ended up in Tabiona, Utah when she was 14 where she met her future husband John (Tim) Reid. They were married May 28, 1950. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mom had a strong moral compass which she said she had even as a little girl. She knew right from wrong and lived this all through her life. As a young woman when she left home and got a job she bought her own set of scriptures with her first paycheck. She had a love of the gospel and a testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She served diligently in many callings. One she referred to often was her time as a Relief Society President. She had a testimony of visiting teaching and during the years she never missed a month of her visits.
She was an excellent homemaker, wife and mother. Her home was clean and orderly yet full of warmth and love. Each of us children felt a deep personal love from her. She was the best cook. Known for her buttermilk pancakes, raisin cookies and those amazing famous pies!
Mom has a fierce love and devotion for her husband of 76 years. As eternal companions, they exemplify what the love between a couple looks like and have set this example for their posterity.
She is survived by her husband, John. Brother, Bennett (Alfhild) Josie. 6 children (the “friends she grew”) Josie (Bob) Frisby; Jill (Kevin) Hamilton; Debra (Stephen) Barton; Shelley (Rob) Taylor; Stacy (Steve) Nix and Douglas (Jodi) Reid. 24 Grandchildren, 61 Great grandchildren and 1 Great, great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29th at 1:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, with a viewing from 11:30-12:45. Interment -Tabiona Cemetery on Wednesday, September 30 at 1:00 pm.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Rachel, her dedicated nurse.
