1943 - 2020\r\n\r\nNona Skidmore Florence returned to her heavenly home and loved ones January 23, 2020. Born the ninth of eleven children on May 26, 1943 in Delta, Utah to Evan Justin Skidmore and Eleanor Lyman Skidmore. Nona married Richard LaMar Winter, who is the father of her children and later divorced. On New Year’s Eve 1983 she danced into the arms of Giles Hintze Florence. They were married December 1, 1988 and were sealed in the Salt Lake Utah temple for eternity June 20, 2015.\r\n\r\nNona loved growing up on the family farm in Sutherland, Utah. She often told stories of her childhood, including driving the family tractor, bottle-feeding baby sheep, working alongside her father and siblings. She graduated from Delta High School, where she was a member of the 4H club. Her hard-working spirit kept her going throughout her life\r\n \r\nNona and Giles found great joy serving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Inner Salt Lake City Mission from 2010-2017, among many other callings. During her life, Nona enjoyed serving others, be it volunteering for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, working in the athlete processing facility, where she was able to meet many Olympic athletes from around the world, the 2002 Paralympic Games and a long serving board member of the Festival of Trees. She was a huge fan of the Utah Jazz, from the early years and never wavered, enjoying the current season.\r\n\r\nNona loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always looked for an opportunity to have a family party to bring her loving family together. She enjoyed many activities including making chocolate Easter eggs, quilting, sewing, and traveling. Some of her favorite trips include a recent trip to visit family in Kansas and family trips to California. She also enjoyed previous trips to Hawaii, London and this past spring, she enjoyed the trip of a lifetime to Italy.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by: brothers, Edward Skidmore (Velma), Gail Skidmore (Linda), Brent Skidmore (Marsha); and sister, Marilyn Mickleson (Ross); children, Gregory Richard Winter (Cindy), Jeffrey Lane Winter (Sharon), Valerie Nona McAllister (Dale), and Marnie Miranda Woodruff (Kyle); Giles H. Florence, Jr. (Ann), Robyn Lee Jones (Seth), Allyson Johnsen (Jeff), Stacy Rosehill, Kymberly Pell (Bob), Kahala Barnes (Jon), Shannon Story (Carl); 22 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, brothers Scott Skidmore (Phyllis), Gordon Skidmore, and sisters Emoret Boshell (Ralph), Louise Nielson (Grant), Nancy Todd (Leonard), Julie Skeem (Reed). \r\n \r\nAs much as Nona will be missed, her family is very happy she is reunited with the love of her life, her siblings, and parents.\r\n\r\n A viewing will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel, 1160 East Vine Street, Murray, Utah, with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will be at the Sutherland Utah Cemetery, 2250 N 4000 W, Delta, Utah starting at 3:00pm.
