David Racine Obituary (1938 - 2013)

“Dave”David Racine, our beloved fun husband, father, Gramps, and brother passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013, surrounded by his family after a short bout with cancer.He was born on July 18, 1938 to Louis Racine and Minnie Jannett Jensen Racine in Salt Lake City. He graduated from South High in 1956.Dave spent a wonderful 38 years of his life with his wife Joan (deceased) in Salt Lake City residing in the same ward while raising their family.Dave’s loves were boating, water skiing, basketball, square dancing and his family. Dave has ridden the waters of Lake Powell for the last 48 years and created memories for many during those trips. Dave played on church basketball teams winning region championships. He met his wife Kathy while square dancing and spent many weekends traveling so Kathy could call for their square dance friends. Dave and Kathy had the opportunity to serve a mission to Australia and learned to love the people there. Dave loved a joke and had a ready smile for everyone. He was dedicated to his church callings and the opportunity to serve his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He believed strongly in the principals of the Gospel and the blessings received from following those principals. He never missed an opportunity to bear testimony of his love for Jesus Christ.Dave is survived by his wife Kathy, his mother-in-law Rutheda Nicholson and his children: Craig (Elaine), Toby (Michelle), Scott, Aimee, Ryan (Danyelle), Jenny (Jim), Wendy, Whitney (Derrick), Chelsea, and Brooke. Some of Dave’s greatest blessings call him Gramps. He is loved by his numerous grandchildren, his step-children and step-grandchildren.A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the LDS Lakeside 6th Ward located at 102 N. 2400 W., in Provo, Utah at 12:00 Noon, with a viewing from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery.
