Ashby (Trish) passed away peacefully in the home she loved, surrounded by family. Trish was born on March 24th, 1944, in Murray, Utah, to David J. and Margaret Stowe Campbell. She attended school in Murray, where she met her best friend and eternal companion, Douglas Gary Ashby. They were sealed on June 10th, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they established a loving, Christ-centered home where she was a stay-at-home mom to her seven children. As a family, they enjoyed many activities, including hiking, camping, boating, or anything in the great outdoors. She loved to travel and spent countless hours studying her maps and planning her adventurous trips. Because of her great love of this country, she had a goal of seeing every national park and was able to visit all 50 states. She even collected a spoon in all of them and kept them on display for her family to enjoy. In her later years, when she was limited by her health conditions, she continued with her passion for adventure by living through her children and grandchildren and watching their adventures and accomplishments on Instagram. Trish also loved spending time in her yard and cared for each plant and flower individually and paid attention to every detail. Her efforts provided a beautiful setting that she enjoyed with her family for many backyard picnics and even some weddings. Trish was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings and leadership positions, including Primary, Young Women’s, and Scouts. She was both ward and stake girls camp director for many years and was particularly proud of the time she spent working with the youth. She also served as PTA president twice and received the Granite High School Farmer Award because of her school spirit and willingness to open up her home to everyone. Gary and Trish always desired to serve a mission which was fulfilled when they were called to preside over a young single adult ward. Mom is survived by her husband Gary and their seven children by birth and seven children through marriage: Kimberly (Randy) Wright, South Jordan; Tracy (Dan) Farley, West Jordan; Julie (Dan) Smith, West Jordan; Ryan (Emily) Ashby, West Bountiful; Brad (Rosalie) Ashby, South Jordan, Natalie (Eric) Larson, Farmington; Wade (Erin) Ashby, Sandy. She is also survived by her 33 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with another three on the way. The family would like to give special thanks to Aspire Hospice for their compassionate care. We are also grateful for the many special lifelong friends who were like family and brought her so much joy throughout her life. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 6th, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. Funeral services will be Monday, June 7th, 2021 at 11:00 am at Granite Park Stake Center at 601 Mansfield Avenue (3120 South), South Salt Lake City, Utah. A short viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 am prior to funeral services. A graveside service will be held following the funeral service at West Jordan Cemetery, 7925 South 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah.
