“Educator”\nPaul Wendal Levorsen (88) passed away March 7th 2011 due to causes incident to age. He was born July 7, 1922 to Amund and Viola (Nokes) Levorsen in Magna Utah.Paul graduated from Granite High School. He worked as a carpenter in Washington. After returning home to Murray, he entered the Marines during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Esther Johansen, another U of U student in 1946. He worked briefly in the US Postal Service and in the Bingham Mine, and completed his degrees at the University of Utah and BYU. He spent most of his career as an elementary school teacher in Oquirrh Hills and Canyon Rim from which he retired in 1982. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Esther Johansen; his sisters, Marjorie Rigby, Faye (Hal) Marsden and Joan (Fred) Griffiths; and his four children, Dean (Glenna), Judith Abullah-Erdem, Joe (Kay), Allan Levorsen; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, LaMonte and Don; and his oldest sister, Afton Padjen. We express many thanks to the Utah State Veterans Nursing Home staff and his Hospice caregivers.Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Murray Parkway Stake Center located at 619 W. 5750 S. Friends and relatives can visit with Paul and his family Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State St, in Murray; as well as before the funeral at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. on Thursday. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
