Paul Newsome

Paul Melvin Newsome, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle & friend, passed away February 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born May 9, 1958 to Ronald Newsome and Helen Larrabee in Salt Lake City. He was raised in Kearns, Utah. He attended Kearns High school.

Paul worked pulling fiber optic lines for many years and was a handyman, knowing how to do almost anything. If he didn’t know how to do it he would learn.

Paul liked NASCAR, the Chicago Bears, and the Utah Jazz. He was a kid at heart and loved playing with and entertaining his grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He had a nickname for all of them. He played a mean AIR guitar and would jam with the best. He was the world’s greatest grandpa.

Paul is survived by his wife and love of his life, JoAnn Bennion; daughters: Jennifer (Leon) Redmond, Jessica (Ben) Jeffs, Angela (Tristan) Bennion, and Krystal Ash; grandchildren: Sage, Sawyer, Brandon, Kenna, and Kayson; brothers and sisters: Ramona (Brad) Henderson, Kathy Loveday, Clifford (Shannan) Newsome, Annette Christensen, Gale (Nancy) Bennett, Lyle (Paige) Behunin, Bonnie (Kevin) Jones, and Wendy Heaps; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved so much.

Preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; sister, Sharon; niece, Theresa Huggard; nephews, Michael Newsome and Derick Dobson; and brother-in-law, Jed Stoddard.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah 84107. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at West Jordan City Cemetery, 7925 south 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah 84088.
