Salt Lake City, UT
Born 23rd September 1928, London, England to John Bullock and Winifred May Osborn. He passed on peacefully in his home on October 6, 2019.
He served in the British Army as Trooper in the 15/19th Royal Hussar and saw active duty in Egypt, Palestine, Sudan and North Africa at the end of World War II. After his tour of duty and shortly after returning back to England, he emigrated to the United States in 1948 with his parents and younger brother, Martyn. The following year he worked as a cowboy on the Carrigan Cattle Ranch in Peterson, located near Morgan, Utah. Shortly after coming back to Salt Lake he received a mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to return back to England.
Upon returning home from his mission, he worked for Holladay Lumber as truck driver, foreman, and assistant manager. Upon retiring he worked independently the next 5 years as “The Craftsman.”
In 1954 he met Josephine Hennessy, and they were married a year later in the Salt Lake Temple. Josie had emigrated from Liverpool, England and was of Irish ancestry from Tipperary, Ireland. Her mother said to her, “You went all the way to Utah to marry an ENGLISHMAN?”
Peter served faithfully in many church callings. His favorite was as a leader in the Young Men’s organization as president and advisor to the priests quorum for 24 years in both the Valley View and Winder Wards.
He had always loved the outdoors since his youth, and through latter years the ocean was a favorite journey with his family. Much of his pastime was spent roaming the hills and vales seeking and studying birds. He enjoyed hobbies of wood carving, construction of recreation vehicles, boats and campers, bicycling, skiing, fishing and Southern Utah desert excursions with family and friends.
Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, on November 9, 2018 and is survived by his children: Timothy (Peggy), David (Robyn), Stephen (Carol), Shiela (Kevin), Paula (Michael), Sean (Mindy); 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He loved each and every one of them.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 12:00 noon at Elysian Burial Gardens located at 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the graveside service from 10:00-11:45 a.m. at the Winder Stake Center, 4366 South 1500 East, Millcreek.
Peter said, “I have had a good life and am going on to a far better one.”
