Phyllis Sheldon Schofield

Phyllis Sheldon Schofield, our beloved mother and grandmother, died peacefully December 1, 2015, at the Carrington Court memory care facility in South Jordan, Utah. Phyllis was born May 13, 1925, to Walter Marson Sheldon and May Sheldon. Phyllis and her identical twin sister Ruth grew up in Bedford, Massachusetts and spent summers at their grandparent's cottage in Roland Park, New Hampshire. Phyllis followed in her father's footsteps and attended the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, practicing in her father's pharmacy after graduation. She met and married Keith Schofield, an Idahoan who was in Boston to attend Harvard Law School. Keith spent most of his career in the Central Intelligence Agency in Central and South America, moving every two years, and Phyllis happily joined him. Phyllis had a sense of adventure that started with a love of skiing, continued with a bicycling trip through Europe, and expanded during all her years in Central and South America with Keith. Phyllis had two children in Uruguay, Ann and Robert, and a third child, Charity, in the Dominican Republic. Her adventurous life included having to be evacuated by the Marines with her two small children in order to escape nearby fighting.
Phyllis became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after meeting Keith. She was an active member and served faithfully in all her callings, including a mission to Spain with Keith.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Ann Lindsay (John), Robert, and Charity Dahl (Alex), her twin sister Ruth Bodurtha (Frank), three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Keith.
Funeral services will be held at noon December 5th, 2015, at the LDS Meetinghouse located at 9750 South 2200 West, South Jordan, with a visitation from 11:00-11:45 am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
