South Jordan, Utah
With a measure of relief and sadness, and drawing strength from the promise of a glorious resurrection, we enter this period of separation looking with hope for a future reunion, where we will once again enjoy the same tender sociality that was attuned here in this life.
With that hope in our hearts, we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Quinn B Stirland, age 74. Quinn passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home in South Jordan, Utah.
Quinn was born on February 22, 1952, in Logan, Utah, the first of five children of Meade B and Ruth Bangerter Stirland. He lived in Las Vegas, Nevada; Danville, California; Los Alamos, New Mexico and Wickenburg, Arizona. In high school he enjoyed running cross country and wrestling.
Quinn served in the Munich Germany mission from 1971-1973, where he played trombone in a traveling home evening band. Upon his return he moved to Utah where he attended the University of Utah, and received degrees in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration.
In 1974 Quinn met his loving wife, Peggy Larson, at a singles ward activity in Salt Lake. They were married on December 26, 1974. They were the devoted parents of 5 children, Colby (Cindy), Jesse, Kelly (Jenny), Darren (Sherry) and Rochelle (Tyler) Behle.
Quinn loved riding motorcycles and was a longtime member of the “Beehive Beamers”. He received numerous awards for the 500,000 + miles he traveled. He rode his Beamer to Alaska and knew most of the less traveled roads in Utah and Idaho.
Quinn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served valiantly for many years as Scout Master, Sunday School Teacher, and Elders Quorum President. He served many years in the Jordan River and Oquirrh Mountain temples.
In 2020 Quinn met Sharon Green Cosgrove. After a year of hiking and dancing together they decided to be married on May 21, 2021. Quinn welcomed Sharon and her children into his heart and home.
Quinn was preceded in passing by his wife, Peggy; father, Meade; sister, Roni (Kevin) Lee; and stepdaughter, Mallory Cosgrove. He is survived by his mother-Ruth; sisters Tauna (Glenn) Blanch, Jocie Truesdell, brother Krey (Wendy); wife-Sharon; children: Colby, Jesse, Kelly, Darren and Rochelle. Also, stepchildren: Jenny Walker (Jordan), Brandon, Curtis (Collette) and Lauren Cosgrove, as well as 20 grandchildren all of whom loved him so much.
