Murray, UT
Joyce McCleery Stauffer, of Murray Utah passed away May 21, 2015, after a long and joyful life.
Joyce was born to David McCleery and Violet Matthews McCleery on February 12, 1930.
Joyce met her soul mate, Richard "Dick" Stauffer, as a student at Murray High School. Their early courtship would soon make way for many exciting adventures together. Joyce attended Utah State while Dick served an LDS mission in California. They were married one month after he returned. Immediately after marrying, Dick was drafted into the Army. They moved to Washington D.C. where Joyce worked as a GS2 clerk. They returned to Murray while Dick finished his MBA at the University of Utah. During this time they welcomed their daughter Richele "Shelly". Dick & Joyce soon moved to California where they would live for over 30 years. They welcomed two sons, Preston and then Brett.
Joyce loved her time in Pleasant Hill. She worked as a paralegal for over 30 years and served in a variety of Church callings. She especially loved working with the youth and the members of the Oakland Cambodian Branch. She was known to always have an open door, a full fridge, and an infectious laugh. During this time she made many lifelong friends in all areas of her vibrant life.
In 1997 they returned to their roots in Murray to be closer to her Mother and family. Dick and Joyce enjoyed the love and friendship of their many friends, neighbors and "adopted family".
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Stauffer. She is survived by her three children, Shelly Stauffer Brady, Preston & Linda Stauffer, Brett & Marcia Stauffer; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and countless members of her extended family who all filled her life with love and happiness.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Intermountain Medical Center ICU for their loving care and support.
