“Loving Father and Grandfather”\nRalph Albert Benson passed away June 16, 2009 in Murray, Utah surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 18, 1918 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Albert L. and Dorthy M. Alvey Benson. He married his sweetheart, Lorene Stam, November 26, 1946; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, she preceded him in death July 22, 2000. \nRalph was the oldest of 8 children and at the age of 5 traveled from Idaho in a covered wagon and settled in Vernon, Utah. Ralph began working at the Kennecott Copper Mine at an early age to help support his family. He earned his apprentice as a skilled carpenter. Ralph blessed many lives with his craftsmanship and learned the value of hard work. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had a great love for the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. He loved his family and was always concerned for their well being by sacrificing anything he could for them. \nHe is survived by his daughters, Janice (Alan) Heywood and Sandra; son, Craig (Teresa); brother Boyd, sister Helen Poulsen, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by daughter, Sharon and son, Steven. \nSpecial thanks to Highland Care Center and Applegate Hospice for their loving care. \nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 12 Noon at the Little Cottonwood 6th Ward (Brownstone Chapel), 6410 South 725 East. Friends and family may pay their respects from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., and Tuesday from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
