Raona Armstrong Henderson Ovard passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Heritage Care Center in Roy, Utah.\n\nShe was born in Preston, Idaho to Ida Shumway and William T. Armstrong, the oldest of four daughters. She was raised in Robin, Idaho where she learned much from her life on the farm and fishing with her Dad.\n\nShe graduated from McCammon High School and married Hazen M. Henderson in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 12, 1946, with whom she had four sons. \n\nShe later married Jay Smith Ovard in Elko, Nevada on April 17, 1969. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 22, 2000. They lived in Murray, Utah for 45 years, moving to Monte Vista in Roy nine years ago, where Jay currently resides.\n\nShe was employed at Kelly Office Products in Salt Lake for 20 years and Burrell CPA for 11 years.\n\nShe was President of the Salt Lake Chapter of Sweet Adelines for two years and the Fifty “G’s” Bowling League for three years. Her other hobbies have been fishing, ceramics, crossword puzzles, annual trips with her mother and sisters and watching the Utah Jazz and other sports on TV. \n\nShe served with Jay as home teachers in the Monte Vista Ward.\n\nHer children and their spouses are Ronald Henderson (deceased); Steve and Charlotte Henderson, Manila, Utah; James Henderson (deceased); Mark and Helene Henderson, West Jordan, Utah; DeVon and Lisa Ovard, Tooele, Utah; and two stepdaughters, Diane Maybury and Cathy Lambert of Salt Lake. She has 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Her three sisters and their spouses are Shirley and Fay Facer, Burdine and Wesley (deceased) Lewis, and Norita and Terry Christensen.\n\nFuneral services will be Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 5127 S. 2400 W. in Roy, Utah. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church from 11:00-12:15 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 So. Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
