“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent.” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle\n\n\nThe world became a little dimmer on October 10, 2022 with the passing of Raymond Carl Herbat after a quick illness. Despite his illness, he was singing and making jokes until the end.\n\n\nRay was born September 18, 1957 in Washington, DC to Raymond M. and Judith Mills Herbat. He moved to Utah, attended Murray High, and later served in the Army Reserve fueling helicopters.\n\n\nHis love of all things motorized gave him a career in auto parts, and a hobby fixing cars. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it, give advice - solicited or not - and crack jokes. His big laugh was one of the best things about him.\n\n\nRay is survived by his two daughters, Shannon (Michael) Bowers and Kimmy McNatt; his mother, Judy Vincent; sisters Jayne Bronson and Sue (Uzi) Montiel; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. But his pride and joy was being a Papa to three grandkids: Gabe, Marley, and Grayson.\n\n\nHis cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by his family, and at Copper Ridge Healthcare, where he spent the last few years of his life.\n\n\nRay will be honored at a graveside service at Murray City Cemetery located at 5600 S. Vine Street, Murray, Utah on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm. After the graveside service there will be a get together at his daughter’s house.
