Edmond Ray LeCheminant was born January 27, 1944 to Edmond Lionel LeCheminant and Ruth Williams LeCheminant. Ray passed away on February 3, 2023 of age related illnesses.
Ray was blessed to be born into a large family; he was the tenth of eleven children.
On September 4, 1962 Ray married his high school sweetheart, Lois Kathryn Park. Together they had four children; Bart Ray (Denise) LeCheminant of Murray Utah, Raylene (Greg) Andersen of Parker CO, Daniel Craig LeCheminant of Taylorsville, and Michelle (Pavel) Dopita of Sandy, Utah.
Ray was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For a few years he was involved with the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he served as President for two years.
In February of 1983 Ray married Patricia Lynn Atkinson; they were married for 27 years. Ray was preceded in death by Lois Kathryn Park (1973), Patricia Lynn Atkinson, his parents, and 8 of his siblings; Renee Brown, Osmond LeCheminant, Vilate Allen, Diane Bell, Norma Schults, Louise Fowlks, Gerry Chapman and Don LeCheminant. Ray is survived by his four children, his brother Stephen LeCheminant, his sister Grace Holt, thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Dad graduated from Granite High School in May of 1962. Dad was a highly skilled auto mechanic, machinist, and was a certified welder. Working on automobiles was his life long hobby; there was rarely a machine dad couldn't fix. He loved old antique cars, and was proud to be part of a team that built a Modified Sprint Race Car that won a season championship. For a short time he owned his own asphalt patching company, till the steam roller fell of the trailer and broke his arm. After that he was content to return to mechanics,
Dad loved taking his grand-kids to his favorite fishing holes, going on long road trips with his brother Don and his wife Shirley. Dad’s’ favorite movies were westerns starring John Wayne.
Ray wasn't one who wanted to spend much time in big crowds, he was pretty quiet by nature, but those who knew him knew his heart was in the right place. He will be dearly missed.
