Rebecca Ann Sharp Ellis, age 72, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on August 22, 2026. Rebecca (Becky) was born to Maj. Gen. Alan Giles and Gloria Lillian Steffensen Sharp on January 6, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in Bountiful, Utah where she graduated from Viewmont High School and attended University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
She moved with her family to Fair Oaks California in 1973 where she met her future husband, Karl Ray Ellis, Jr. who was a Sargeant in the USAF. They married on August 27, 1974. They were stationed in Tucson Arizona and later transferred to Northampton, England, where their beautiful baby girl, Cheri Lynn, was born. Becky later divorced and returned with her daughter to live in Utah, eventually living in the Bountiful family home she grew up in. She later married Steven Walker and was married for 10 years before divorcing.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she loved serving in the church. She enjoyed teaching Primary and serving as a Missionary at a Bishop’s Storehouse in Davis County, Utah before moving in to care for her mother in South Jordan, Utah. At the time of her passing she was serving as a Relief Society Teacher in the care center where she lived. She was looking forward to giving her next lesson prior to her passing.
Becky always put her heart into the special moments or struggles of family and friends by sending her many thoughtful birthday remembrances, texts or cards. The love she shared was given back to her from those she loved and that love she gave will be remembered.
Becky is survived by her daughter, Cheri Lynn Ellis, her mother, Gloria Lillian Steffensen Sharp, her siblings, Stephen Alan Sharp (Alexis), Mary Elizabeth Loumeau (Ronald), David Aaron Sharp (Nancy), and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Alan Giles Sharp, and her grandparents.
Becky was a resident of Meadow Peaks in Taylorsville, Utah, for the past four and a half years. Her family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the care, love and kindness they have shown to her. They treated her like family. We know that she loved the staff and residents and our family loves you. We’d also like to thank Mountain View Dialysis for their care of Becky as she had her dialysis three times a week.
