Rhett Michael Miller Obituary (1948 - 2016)

Heaven just received its newest resident when our beloved husband, father and grandfather entered on July 18, 2016. Rhett was born and raised in Salt Lake City where he met and married Vanita Johns, the love of his life. Together they raised their four children. As a young man, Rhett joined the U.S. Marine Corps and completed nine years of exemplary service, including a tour of duty in Viet Nam. The remainder of his career was mostly spent working as an industrial insulator on the oil fields of Alaska's north slope. In both his military and civilian jobs, Rhett was often promoted quickly into leadership roles, due to his strong work ethic, tenacity and professional skills. He enjoyed golf, fishing, baseball, snorkeling and watching old westerns. But most of all, he loved God, his family, and helping others. He is survived by his wife, Vanita; children: Michelle (Bud) Hall, Sean (Joanna) Miller, Greg (Olga) Miller, Kelli (Andy) Pendrey and nine grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply. Preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Donaldson Miller and father, Robert Miller. He is also survived by sisters: DeEtte McLachlan, Lynette Sopko, Robyn Moore; and brother Robert Miller, Jr. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road (1700 W), Bluffdale, Utah 84065. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or any Veteran's charity.
