Richard Earl Gaisford, beloved husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away the morning of June 8, 2007 of lung cancer.\n\nRichard was born October 8, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He went to schools in Salt Lake and in California. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1957 with a degree in accounting. He worked for Sperry/Unisys as a manager in the accounting department until his retirement in 1990.\n\nHe served his county by joining the Navy in 1948. He is a veteran of the Korean War.\n\nHe loved the game of golf and was constantly searching for the perfect swing. Dick and Shirley loved to spend their winters in Hawaii. He loved the islands, their people and culture.\n\nHe married Shirley Gull on March 26, 1951 in Salt Lake City, later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on December 26, 1998. He was an active member of the LDS church. He was currently serving as High Priest group leader, which he so enjoyed. He truly enjoyed serving others. His generosity, especially to those who needed a helping hand, is an example he set for all who knew him.\n\nHe is survived by his wife, Shirley, their three children, Judy (Bruce) Bohm, Richard (Jaleen) Gaisford, and Lisa (Carl) Jensen. He was extremely proud of his ten grandchildren and nine great-great children.\n\nWe would like to thank the many friends, neighbors, doctors and nurses who made his life easier these past few months. May such kindness and generosity come your way always.\n\nA viewing will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Murray, Utah.\n\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, June 12, at the Little Cottonwood 8th Ward, 6210 Glenoaks, Murray, Utah at noon. Prior to the funeral, a viewing will be held from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. Interment, Elysian Gardens.
